Il Volo: Thursday, August 27 2015

Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto, Piero Barone
This evening, we watched Il Volo (The Flight), a trio of Italian operatic pop tenors, on TV. Their voices blend beautifully, and their choice of music is well-chosen to give pleasure to an audience of eclectic tastes. What an enjoyable program of lovely music!

These three young men have naturally good voices, and they have been well-trained in the Italian Bel Canto method of voice production. They are continuing their studies in music. Their diction is good, so that every word is clear. Gianluca Ginoble is a baritone, Ignazio Boschetto is a lyric tenor, and Piero Barone is an operatic tenor.

Their careers began in 2009 when they appeared in an Italian televised singing competition. Gianluca Ginoble (1995-) won with his rendition of Il mare calmo della sera, by Andrea Bocelli. It occurred to the creator of the show to put Piero Barone (1993-) and Ignazio Boschetto (1994-) together with Ginoble, to form a trio like The Three Tenors, Domingo, Carreras, and Pavarotti. They have won awards with their recordings, and many competitions. The rest is history.
